Hundreds of Mitchell's Plain residents are expected to protest outside court on Monday when a man accused of killing his ex-wife and a maulana in her home makes his appearance.
On Tuesday police found the bodies of Fazlin Isaacs and Sharief Hendricks at her Beacon Valley residence, both sustained gunshot wounds. Igshaan Isaacs was later arrested on Wednesday in Kuils River after being on the run for more than a day. The murder was witnessed by one of Fazlin's four children.
Mitchell's Plain Community Policing Forum Chairperson Michael Jacobs expressed the community's anger over the incident. Jacobs said the justice system has failed the family of the deceased and the community. He added that the community will oppose bail for the accused.
MEC Lennit Max said before the incident Isaacs’s sought protection from her ex-husband.
Max has now called for a full investigation. MEC Lennit Max's spokesperson Jo Lennox said Community Safety will take action of police negligence is found to be the cause of the victims deaths.
