Western Cape Police have confirmed the arrest of the 32 year-old England Soccer team fan at the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town on a charge of trespassing.
This follows after the team supporter, identified as Pavlos Joseph, entered the English team’s change room after the World Cup match between England and Algeria on Friday night.
Police immediately initiated an investigation into the incident after it was reported after the match.
CCTV footage was analysed and the suspect was identified and traced to his place of accommodation in Cape Town.
Police say the National Prosecuting Authority of the Department of Justice has cooperated fully on the investigation.
The suspect briefly appeared in the World Cup special court yesterday.
Meanwhile security has been beefed up at all World Cup Stadiums in an attempt to avert such incident in the future.
