Canadian Youth Delegation calling government to listen to the people

The Canadian Youth Delegation today hosted a cake sale at COP17/CMP7; the aim of the sale was to buy back their future.
This follows the reports that Canada will not be committing to a 2nd commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
The Canadian Youth Delegation says that the Canadian government’s climate policy has been brought by the Canadian oil industry.
The youth delegation also stated that the Canadian government gives $1.4 billion per year in oil and gas subsides instead of investing in green and jobs.
The message from organisations here at COP17/CMP7 is for government to listen to the people and not the polluters, and this was the message that the Canadian Youth Delegation are riding on. #COP17
