The Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa launched the national Anti-Piracy campaign today in Johannesburg.
The campaign is aimed at curbing the distribution of counterfeit goods by piracy syndicates.
The Minister was accompanied by a task force that conducted four separate operations in the city in a bid to apprehend vendors distributing fake CD’s and DVD’s.
The police have confiscated goods worth 50-million-Rands since the campaign kicked off last Friday.
Mthethwa says piracy is very damaging to the country’s economy and must be met with decisive action.
