Thousands of starving people fed in Verdwaal in North West
The Gift of the Givers organisation has fed some 20 000 and starving people, including many children, at Verdwaal in North West.
Spokesperson Imtiaz Sooliman says the situation in the area is critical and they began feeding the people following media reports about four children who died of starvation and exposure while trekking some 10 kilometres in search of food and water.
Sooliman says thousands of children came running with buckets to receive the food the organisation brought.
At least 10 000 people were fed and given hygiene packets this afternoon alone.
