An elderly man was attacked by armed robbers in his house in Winburg and he lost his right hand.
The robbers left him tied up for four days before help arrived.
Yesterday Pottie Potgieter’s hand had to be amputated by the doctors at Bongani Hospital.
The robbers tied the old man up with wires on Saturday and he was found Tuesday afternoon.
Rina Bezuidenhout a family member said Potgieter was moved to the high care unit after the operation.
While his right hand was being amputated, two of his alleged attackers appeared in the magistrate’s court in Winburg.
