A 32 year-old man disappeared at Bantry Bay

A 32 year-old man is feared to have drowned at Bantry Bay this afternoon.

The National Sea Rescue Institute together with the South African Police responded to a call to search for the man.

NSRI`s Craig Lambinon said that the man is believed to be from Kwazulu Natal on contract building work at a Bantry Bay building site, He had gone swimming but disappeared while swimming.

Lambinon also said that his clothes and a helmet were found left on the shore but there was no sign of the man.

Lambinon added that a police dive team will continue with an ongoing search operation and an inquest docket has been opened.
