This week the DA shadow minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries Annette Steyn was denied access to Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP).

She said that she was denied access to the state-run institute with the mandate to prevent and control animal diseases that impact food security, human health and livelihood.

Steyn said she was denied access despite having organised the visit in advance.

Steyn added that during the course of the month the DA has been publicising the deficiency of state-produced vaccines for a number of animal vaccines such as the Rift Valley Fever and African Horse Sickness.
