The Western Cape Education Department will be launching a new electronic tool which the department has developed.

The aim of the tool is to improve infrastructure planning for education in the province.

MEC for education in the Western Cape Donald Grant and the superintendent general will launch the tool.

The MEC’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey said the new system will assist the WCED to make informed decisions when it takes steps to align the size and shape of the education system should it change in an environment in which schools operate.

The WCED will use the new system when planning new school developments, school merges and school closures.
