The Congress of South African Trade Unions says they welcome the passing of the Protection of State Information Bill.

Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said they are busy studying the amendments to the bill before it is passed by the National Assembly next year.

Craven says they want to check whether their concerns within the Bill have been met.

“We will now be  referring the matter to lawyers to see whether it is possible to challenge the law in the constitutional court, particulary if  it does not adequately protect whistle blowers” Craven said.
