Trade Union Solidarity today submitted court documents to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, in relation to the Renate Barnard affirmative action case.

They believe Barnard must be promoted in the South African Police Service.

Solidarity also believes that Barnard was discriminated against based on the colour of her skin.

Solidarity’s Dirk Groenewald also said that the Government can leave positions vacant for the purpose of enhancing affirmative action that will not only be to the detriment of the minority of the people in South Africa.

It will also be to the detriment of South African people as a whole due to the fact that delivery will be hampered by the way that affirmative action would be instituted.

He adds that this will be one of the most important cases to be fought in the country.
