The Young Communist League of South Africa today said they respect Cosatu’s elected leadership’s decision to place the Western Cape farm strikes on hold while negotiations take place on a farm-to-farm basis.

Spokesperson for the Young Communist League of South Africa Khaya Xaba said they believe that Cosatu, with its 26 years of protecting workers interests, is well placed to make this decision.

Xaba said farmworkers have not been organized for a long time and its time they are organized under one union.

Xaba adds that they can fight against exploitation by farm owners.
