Gauteng African National Congress
chairperson Paul Mashatile says he is confident that the current Provincial
Executive Committee meeting will save the party.
Mashatile spoke during an
extended PEC meeting on Friday where he warned against members being victims of
their own propaganda. He says the organisation needs to manage perceptions that
the ANC has become complacent to corruption and condescending when “members speak out against the ills of the
party.”
Mashatile has told top ranking
ANC officials not to fall into the trap of believing the party had won the
election because that would plunge it into further denialism.
The Gauteng ANC chairperson has
concluded that the pain felt by the party has been “self-inflicted” and deep introspection is needed. He says
it is time they listened to the voters.
