The City of Cape Town is reminding residence of its comprehensive package of social assistance.
The city encourage
residents to make use of the financial support which is available to qualifying
beneficiaries, officials, those who have qualified in the past have been
reminded to apply every year for benefits, this excludes pensioners who may
apply to renew their benefit every three years.
The City's Mayoral
Committee Member for Finance, Siseko Mbandezi said that the City recently
launched its indigent benefits and rates relief campaign drive.
Mbandezi said more than
100 residents have already either applied for indigent support or rates rebate
or made a payment arrangement to pay off their debts.
The city said that the cost of the City's social package for the 2022/23 financial year amounts to R4,7 billion, and includes R2,3 billion for indigent relief and R1,45 billion for rates relief.
