Statistics South Africa has released the Quarterly Employment stats for the 2nd quarter of 2022 consisting of March and June ,the Director of Quarterly employment Statistics Matlapane Masupye revealed that there has been a decline in Employment by 119 000 from 10 067 000 in March to 9 948000 in June 2022
This was largely due to decreases in the following
Community services,Business Services manufacturing aswell as Electricity
There was an
increase in Total Employment (including paid and self employment)by 74 000
translating to 0.7% between June of 2021 and June this year
Full Time Employment decreased by 0.2% which was 8 842 000
in March to 8 826 000 in June this year
Part time employment decreased by 103 000 quarter on quarter from 1225 000 in March to 1 122000 in June ,this was due to decreases in the following industries ,Community services, manufacturing ,trade , Electricity and Construction
Transport industries reported no quarterly change ,the
Business services industry reported quarterly increase of 4000 employees ,part
time employment increased by 154 000 year on year between June 2021 and June
2022….
The year on year Basic Salary/wages increased by R26.2
Billion between June 2021 and June 2022
Average monthly earnings showed a quarter on quarter
increase of 3.7% from R23 697 in February 2022 to R24 578 in May 2022
Basic Salary Wages paid to Employees increased by R10.3
Billion from R706.7 Billion from March to R717 000 Billion in June 2022 this
was due to increases in the following Industries Business services,trade
construction,manufacturing ,transport mining and community services
