Two gang members shot in Manenberg, as son of former HL boss laid to rest.

Manenberg police are probing cases of murder and attempted murder, following two isolated shooting incidents on Tuesday.

A 47-year-year old was shot and killed in Tagus road. The police’s Joseph Swartbooi said that officers found the body of an unknown man near to Lilian court, at around 15:30, who sustained gunshot wounds to his body.

In an unrelated incident, fifteen minutes later, police found a 27-year-old man in a critical condition after unknown suspects shot him in Gail court.

“The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The unknown suspects who fled the scene are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack is unknown,” said Warrant Officer, Joseph Swartbooi.

It is unclear if the two shooting incidents are linked to the son of the former Hard Livings gang boss, Rashied Staggie. Abdullah Boonzaaier, was laid to rest on Tuesday, after he was gunned down in Manenberg on Saturday.

The incident comes three years after his father was shot and killed in Salt River.

“At around the time the funeral came to a close, we received reports of numerous gang related shootings in progress within Manenberg,” said the City of Cape Town's Mayco member for safety and security, JP Smith.

“It is alleged that 2 members of the Americans were shot in drive-by shootings, followed by the shooting of a leader of the Jesters gang.”

“Our Gang & Drug Task Team along with our Tactical Response Unit have deployed all available resources to support the SAPS AGU in bringing calm to the area,” added Smith.

The mayco member said officers will patrol the area, as “the suburbs are still tense at this moment.”
