A police constable stationed at Citrusdal in the Western Cape has been arrested for an alleged rape of a detainee.

Directorate (IPID), it is alleged that the woman was arrested for assault and
detained at around 02h45 on Friday.
‘’The Police Constable allegedlly went into the holding
cell where the complainant was and raped her. She reported the incident to a
police officer, who reported for duty in the morning for a day shift,’’ said
Phaladi Shuping, IPID spokesperson.
The Police Constable was detained at Picketburg SAPS, and
will appear in the Clanwilliam Magistrates' Court on Monday.
