Mitchells Plain police are probing a case of an attempted murder and attack on police following a shooting incident that occurred in Portlands, on Tuesday afternoon.
The police’s FC van Wyk explained that detectives attached
to Lentegeur SAPS were driving in Merrydale Avenue opposite a primary school
when they heard several gunshots. He added that the officers stopped near a
passage, when they saw two men shooting at a house in London Street.
‘’ At the time they were inside a silver grey
Hyundai Atos. When the suspects saw the two detectives they shot at the
members. Members retaliate and gave chase. They arrested an adult male suspect
at Plaza Towns Centre. The other suspects got away, no firearm was recovered,’’
said Captain F.C van Wyk.
Van Wyk says the motive for this incident is believed to be gang related. Anyone with any information about this shooting incident can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

description provided, and requested permission to conduct a search. The
Officers found 11 bankies of tik, a mandrax tablet and just over R600 in cash
in the suspect’s pocket. They also recovered a .38 special revolver with an
