Western Cape African National Congress Leader Marius Fransman on Monday visited Manenberg.

Fransman said the ANC is opposed to the DA provincial government’s decision to transfer funds from the provincial education budget to allegedly fight gang violence on the Cape Flats.

This comes after Premier Helen Zille on Sunday announced that R 6 million would be diverted from the Education budget to Community Safety to fight gang violence.

Fransman on Monday addressed educators in Manenberg on the premature closure of schools by the DA government.

Fransman further said children are dying in Manenberg and therefore enough security personnel should be deployed in the area. And the deployment of police officers is well appreciated because that ensures the safety of children and the teachers.
