The Congress of South African Trade Union said it is appalled that South Africa's official unemployment rate is still rising.

The latest figures were released on Wednesday. Meanwhile South African Reserve Bank Governor Gill Marcus also raised her concerns.

The latest figures show an increase in the number of jobless people in the country, especially among those under the age of 35-years-old.

Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said there are many good economic policies on paper which are not being implemented.

He also said the industrial policy and infrastructure program are implemented far too slowly and they believe the main culprit is the treasury and the Reserve bank.
