Western Cape MEC of Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela together with the CEO of the Cape Town Community Housing Company Fungai Mudimo, will today be handing over houses to five beneficiaries in Mitchell’s Plain.

This is all part of the housing project in Harmony Village.  The first five beneficiaries range in the age from 23 to 40-years-old.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bruce Oom said that the beneficiaries are all people earning around R3 500 per month and are either married or have dependants.

“The project is costing close to R180 million as it represents one of the future models of housing, which the department is trying to develop,” added Oom.

Oom said that the project is partly sponsored by the department and also by the Cape Town community housing company.

Furthermore Oom also added that this project is aimed at making good quality housing accessible to people as they will get a very low interest rate loan from the Cape Town community housing company, which is combined with the housing subsidy and this will make a very good quality house affordable.
