ACDP says more needs to be done to curb alcohol abuse in the WC

The African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape said the biggest contributor to violence in the province is alcohol abuse.

ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians has recommended that a joint operation should include cracking down on illegal alcohol sales after hours, to minors and to those who have consumed way too much.

Christians said another major problem is that of liquor licenses that are opposed by the sub councils only to find that the SAPS officer has approved it.

ACDP’s Ferlon Christians added that legal shebeen owners must be challenged, even compelled to maintain order in their establishment and to take responsibility for their behaviour of their patrons even when they leave.
