NW Police warn communities of unapproved events

Police in the North West is warning communities not to take part or attend marches or events that are not approved in terms of provisions of Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act. 

Police Spokesperson Pelonomi Makau said participation or attendance of events, illegal marches or protest is exposing attendees or participants to safety risk. 

Makau said this is due to the fact that such events are likely to held without checking of aspects sufficient security, risk categorisation and venue capacity.

She further said it has been established that in some instances attendees lose financial by paying entrance fees for illegal events.
