The Western Cape Department of Education has confirmed that it has been testing matric markers since 2011.
Departmental Spokesperson Paddy
Attwell said they use the test to assess the content knowledge of markers and
their marking skills.
Attwell said they expect markers to obtain 60% or higher.
“There is no fix pass mark, in fact if we receive a lot more markers than we need more application, the cut-off point could be higher maybe 68% or 74% depending on the subject concerned,”
Attewell added that they find it as
a good way of making sure that they have the best possible markers and the
ultimate objectives is to ensure the integrity of the exam.
