In a media statement Congress of the People says as much as it respects the court's decision to reinstate Mosioua Lekota as the President of the party, it does not believe that political squabbles can be solved by the courts.
“While we respect the courts, we strongly believe that any permanent solution to the current problems engulfing the party can only be found through a political process where leaders draw they legitimacy from the people, not the courts,” says the statement.
COPE says the leadership of the party will deal with all the matters that have troubled the organization over the last few weeks.
The party’s JJ Tabane emphasized that they will also be looking forward to the hearing on the interdict against the elections.
“Should this be granted either way, the CNC will meet soon to determine the date for the resumption of the business of Congress that stands adjourned,” said Tabane.
