The National Treasury’s recommendation to place a freeze on the number of new recruits to the police is good for crime fighting in the country.
Doctor Johan Burger at the Institute of Security Studies says South Africa has more than enough police members.
He says the decrease in recruits will give the police the opportunity to upgrade their training facilities and methods.
This will also help produce higher quality members.
