The water crisis in the country is a threat to the wellbeing of the citizens.

The 2012 Blue Drop report revealed that 58 towns in the country had been warned not to drink untreated tap water.
The DA’s senior media officer Piera Abbott said the most concern is the municipalities, particularly the ones with huge deterioration.

She added that there are about 50 areas where people have to boil water or add disinfectants like Jik to be able to drink the water.

Abbott said the issue needs to be addressed as soon as possible because it is unacceptable that the people in the country are without drinking water which is suitable for human consumption.
