WC weekend road block statistics

Western Cape Traffic officials conducted 24 roadblocks across the province over the weekend. 

3 539 vehicles were stopped and checked, 1 114 drivers were tested for alcohol. 

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said two people died on the province roads this past weekend.

The highest speed recorded this weekend was 183km/h in a 120 km/h zone in Beaufort West.

“The total amount of fines issued this weekend was R198 100, we also prosecuted 354 drivers for exceeding the speed limit” Africa said.
