Congress of the South African
Trade Unions in the Western Cape has called for Auditor General to investigate
Premier Helen Zille into mismanagement of GF Jooste Hospital.
Provincial Secretary Tony
Ehreinrach said Cosatu is in hold of information that the Premier never
intended to redesign the Hospital and planned to use the facility premises for
something else.
Ehreinrach has said , “the
premier has mismanaged the closure of GF jooste Hospital, which has left the
people there without any healthcare service. Clearly the premier has mismanaged
the responsibilities in term of providing basic services to the communities.
Ehrainrach added, “We ask that
the auditor investigates the conduct and holds to account for the manner in
which she has deprived the community desperately needed health care”
Meanwhile,Western Cape government
said it is very clear that Tony Ehreinrach is determined on trying to
politicise this matter.
Spokesperson for the Premier
Michael Mpofu said Ehreinrach is clearly opposed to the service delivery in
Maneberg.
Michael said, “We will not be
deferred from doing so, we are going to build a world class facility in terms
of a hospital, world class facility in terms of youth lifestyle campus”
“Tony can try his absolute very best but he
will not succeed but we will not be distracted,” said Michael
