One person died after a wall collapsed

One person died and three others sustained minor to moderate injuries when a wall collapsed at a construction site in the Newcastle CBD earlier today.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found that construction workers had been injured.

The wall had fallen outwards, towards a vacant piece of land, onto the workers.

She said a man was found lying between some rubble and was assessed.

Unfortunately nothing paramedics could do for him, he was declared dead.

She said three others were assessed and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

She added that they were treated transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown, however, authorities were on scene for further investigations.
