State Security Agency analyst Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been approved by the National Assembly to become the new Public Protector, with only the DA voting against her.

The Assembly voted last night on the Ad hoc Committee's recommendation of Mkhwebane to replace outgoing Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.

Mkhwebane received 263 votes, well over the 240 she required, with 79 votes from the DA going against her and one abstention by COPE.
