People Against Gangsterism and Drugs has confirmed that another member has been arrested.

Pagad’s Cassiem Parker said Zakariyyah Albertyn was arrested on Monday night in connection with a triple murder in Athlone.

This follows the arrest of Pagad’s leader Abdus Salaam Ebrahim last week.

However police have not confirmed Albertyn’s arrest.

“Zakariyyah Albertyn was taken from his house and police alleged that it is in connection with the same triple murder that our national coordinator Abdus Salaam Ebrahim has been incarcerated,” added Parker.

He furthermore explained that as Pagad they think that it is a continuation of the witch hunt and also added that they believe that Albertyn is also a victim of detention without trial.

Parker reiterates that as Pagad they are calling on the police to direct their efforts to ridding the communities of drug dealers but he believes that with the situation on hand police are doing the opposite.
