The African Christian Democratic Party said soldiers deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo are proving invaluable in holding off M23 rebels.

ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said they have raised questions concerning the readiness of the soldiers deployed in the DRC.

Dudley said the military has said that the United Nations requested South African authority to send additional weapon to the central African country.

She added that South Africa is conscious of the cost to the tax payer and is waiting for confirmation that there will be reimbursement for this deployment.
