The African National Congress in the Western Cape said the National Cabinet has approved the proposed Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone.

This was agreed during a sitting of the provincial legislature.  The DA said the promulgation of Saldanha as an IDZ will create 25 000 jobs.

DA’s Erik Marais said that they are urgently calling on the minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies to as soon as possible gazette the decision of the national cabinet that approved the IDZ to be zoned for the Saldanha Bay area.

“Because as soon as it has been done and gazetted it can go ahead and unlock the potential of various people that will invest there as there are tax incentives,” added Marais.

He also explained that it will also create job opportunities for the broader Saldanha Bay Municipality.
