Several drivers arrested in the WC over the weekend

Western Cape traffic officials conducted several roadblocks across the province over the weekend whereby 1 199 vehicles were stopped in 24 roadblocks. 

701 drivers were tested for alcohol and 17 drunken drivers were arrested at which the highest reading was recorded near the N1 in Brackenfell. 

Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said total fines issued was R153 500.

Africa further said they also tested the speed limit on 15 122 vehicles and about 1 123 drivers were prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit.

He added that there was one fatality reported over the weekend that was in Robertson.
