A report released
by the Western Cape Education Department showed that teachers were absent from
school for an average of five days.
Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said
the key priority for the department is the protection of learning and teaching
time.
This is to ensure
that teachers are at school everyday on time and ready for the day.
Casey added that
they are very pleased to see that absenteeism figures of educator post in the
Western Cape has decreased since 2010
from per average of six days to five days.
