Child Welfare South Africa has expressed concern about the increasing number of women and small children begging at traffic lights.
“Many of the women are from other countries, especially from Zimbabwe,” said Child Welfare’s Senior Manager for Organisational Development Thelma Matthee
“The biggest problem for us is, is for the children to be in that environment. I wish there was something that can be done, it’s over whelming for everyone at the moment,” said Matthee
“We don’t have enough social workers or volunteers to go out and find what we can do, because there is a complete melt down with funding for NGO’s,” said Matthee
