Motorists have been urged to fill up their tanks before the weekend as a transport worker strike threatens fuel supplies.
The Fuel Retailers’ Association said industry suppliers had made contingency plans to get fuel delivered at key points, but motorists needed to take precautionary measures and keep their tanks filled.
The Transport and Allied Workers Union and Road Freight Employers' Association continued talks today to try and reach an agreement over a wage dispute.
The outcome of the talks is not yet known.
Meanwhile, the Road Transport Management Corporation has warned motorists that Easter weekend traffic volumes are expected to be high from 10am today until midnight.
Roads are expected to be very busy again from five on Friday morning until midday.
Motorists should also keep in mind that major road works are taking place on the national road network.
