Police were called out to a shooting at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre last night, after three armed men entered Checkers supermarket.
Inspector Daphne Dell said the supermarket had already closed its doors when two female cashiers, carrying tills with cash, were approached by the armed suspects.
“They confronted the cashiers which caused them to drop the tills and the cash. A member of the public attempted to assist the cashiers but was shot in the foot by one of the suspects.”
According to Dell, the suspects grabbed the cash and fled the scene.
“The suspects are still at large. We have opened a case of armed robbery for investigation.”
