Bafana Bafana lifts the hearts of millions of home fans

Bafana Bafana find themselves in the enviable position of leading Group A with Mexico after a rather disappointing display by France and Uruguay who played to a goalless draw in Cape Town last night.

France could not turn on the pressure despite the fact that Uruguay’s Nicolas Lodeiro received the first red card of the tournament – leaving his team to battle on with just ten men.

Bafana Bafana and Mexico earlier each managed a goal in their one-all draw in Soccer City in Soweto.

Bafana Bafana did themselves and South Africa proud with their pulsating display against Mexico.

With this performance, The Boys showed that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with during the tournament.

The result stretches Bafana Bafana's unbeaten record to 13 matches under head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.

At the same time, Free State Stars soccer coach Gordon Igesund says it was unfortunate that Bafana Bafana could not hold on to the win.
