Despite President Jacob Zuma urging parties in the public service strike to bring the industrial action to an end in the interests of the country, unions say it could take some days for their members to indicate whether they will accept government’s latest offer.
The devastating strike entered its 15th day today. Unions have refused to speculate whether workers will accept the offer.
Government has increased its wage offer to 7.5 percent and the monthly housing allowance to R800.
But important bodies like teachers’ union Sadtu have already branded the state’s offer as ”pathetic”.
