Cape Town man arrested for an illegal firearm and explosives

A 29-year-old man from Mitchell’s Plain has been arrested after illegal firearms and explosives were allegedly found in his possession.

Police spokesperson Captain Rewayne Muller said a warrant was obtained to search the house.

Police confiscated, amongst others, six unlicensed firearms, police-issue bulletproof vests, police appointment cards, police handcuffs, a stun-grenade and chemicals used to make explosives.

Muller also stated that police also found 9mm pistol ammunition and software believed to be used to change cellphone software.

The man is expected to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Court tomorrow.
