The department of basic education violated the rights of thousands of children when they failed to deliver textbooks to a number Limpopo schools.
The North Gauteng High court in Pretoria today ordered the department to work out a new plan to shorten the delay in supplying the schools with their learning material.
Rights group Section 27 took the department to court after hearing about children who have not yet started
with the syllabus for the year.
Section 27 director Mark Heywood says their victory will send a clear message to other departments that fail to deliver.
