The Democratic Alliance Shadow Minister of Labour Sej Motau says about 75,000 South Africans have lost their jobs in the last quarter of this financial year.
Motau says South Africa ’s unemployment rate is now at 25.2%, up from 23.9% in the last quarter of 2011.
The figures released today show that there are now 4.5 million South Africans who are unemployed.
The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Officer Mr Neren Rau say the figures indicate that South Africa urgently needs business friendly regulations to improve the competitiveness of local business.
