Most of the 28 fishermen on a 50-metre Japanese registered trawler that ran aground in thick mist at First Beach, Clifton, this morning have been rescued.
The NSRI’s Craig Lambinon says all the Taiwanese men on board are safe.
The remaining nine will stay on the boat as a skeleton crew.
The trawler is lying on a sand bank about 35-meters from the beach line. Boats have been launched in an attempt to tow the vessel back into the ocean and off the sandbank.
