A tip-off has led to the discovery of three tons of unused 2011 school textbooks dumped at a King William’s Town warehouse.

Thousands of pupils battled to get through their studies last year without textbooks.

A newspaper reports that the new books, worth millions of Rands, were dumped for recycling.

Teachers and teachers' union Sadtu have described the dumping of the books as scandalous. They ask why the Eastern Cape education department hadn't distributed them last year.
