Yesterday Western Cape Premier Helen Zille launched the Advancement of Youth Project (PAY).
R16 million was received from government for job creation for unemployed youth in the province.
The premier’s spokesperson Zak Mbhele said the project is for skills development and a work experience programme.
He added that it is aimed at providing opportunities to recent school leavers to gain work experience.
About 850 youth who matriculated last year will be given the chance to intern in local government until the end of the year.
