The Democratic Alliance has welcomed and supports the pilot programmes by the Western Cape Department of Social Development, whereby people will be required to work in their communities in order to receive food vouchers.

The DA says it is encouraged by the initiative.

DA’s Mart Marie Haasbroek says this programme is moving people away from government dependency.

She further says this is a ground breaking programme that is opening opportunities for the people.
