North West Premier Thandi Modise has expressed shock at the suspected poisoning and suicide incident in which four children and their mothers were left dead in the Hartbeespoortdam area over the weekend.

Premier Modise called on parents who are overburdened and are experiencing pressure in their lives to approach authorities for professional help instead of opting to take the lives of innocent children or taking their own lives.

The Premier’s spokesperson Lesebe Kgwele said “the Premier wishes to convey her condolences to the husband and family and calls on the churches, non-governmental organisations and community organisations to assist with identifying where intervention is required to prevent such tragic incidents”.
