Police Ministry welcomes sentencing of Johan Kotze

The Ministry of Police said that they welcomed the life sentence that was handed down to Johan Kotze and his co-accused.

The matter was heard in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday, whereby Kotze and his co-accused were given two life sentences.

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said they also wanted to congratulate the officers who were working on the case, as they wanted to move from arrests to securing convictions.

Mnisi added that this case demonstrates that their detectives are capable, they are better trained and this is one of the reasons they are able to secure this harshly convictions.

“We also hope this will send a strong message to all perpetrators of gender based violence that their offences will be severely punished,” Mnisi Added.
